Outlook error message: "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook" and "You need more memory or system resources. Please close some Windows and try again."

Outlook error message:
"Cannot start Microsoft Outlook"

These attempts were innefective:
Repair
Safe mode: outlook.exe /safe
Outlook /resetnavpane
Turn off Aero mode

Last I tried to make a new profile to start Mail in Control panel, but I got another error message:
"You need more memory or system resources. Please close some Windows and try again."

Solution:
Rename this registry key:

Outlook 2010 and older:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem

Outlook 2013:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Profiles

Rename it ProfilesOLD (Right click, rename.)
Then you can start Mail, and make new Outlook profile.

Warning:
Your settings in former Outlook profile will be deleted...
It's recommended to make a backup from all .pst file before you do anything.

Microsoft Office Picture Manager vs. Office 2013

Microsoft Office Picture Manager is no part of Office 2013 anymore.
If you need this software, you have to download the free Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2010 (Frontpage) program, then install it..

After starting Setup, choose "Customize", then disable all components of Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2010, except Office Tools / "Microsoft Picture Manager".
When you disable these components, choose "
Install now".

Thats it.

How to setup the default OS in GRUB dual boot system (eg. Ubuntu and Windows)?

Of course it works with Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Linux Mint Debian Edition, or other Ubuntu based linux distro.

When system starts write down exactly each rows of GRUB menu (e.g.: Linux, recovery mode, memtest86+, Windows).
Or type in Terminal:
# fgrep menuentry /boot/grub/grub.cfg

Choose which OS you want to start as default.
Write down the line number of the Operating System you want to boot first.
The first line starts from 0

eg:

Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.31-14-generic
Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.31-14-generic (recovery mode)
memory test (memtest86+)
memory test (memtest86+, serial console 115200)
Windows 7 (loader) (on /dev/sda1)

Where
"Ubuntu, Linux 2.6.31-14-generic" is 0 (zero row ) and
"Windows 7 (loader) (on /dev/sda1)" is 4 (4th row)

Open a Terminal, and type:
# sudo nano /etc/default/grub
(of course you can use other editor as well)

Search *GRUB_DEFAULT* row, change the default value (which is 0) to the value you wrote down before.

GRUB_DEFAULT=0
GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0
GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true
GRUB_TIMEOUT=10

In grub config file, you can also change the GRUB default time out length.
Then save the GRUB file.

Don't forget to update GRUB.
Run a command in the terminal:

# sudo update-grub

If you want to do these steps with GUI, you can use GRUB customizer software.
Read more about it here.

Remove or reset BIOS password from Windows

This method works with Acer TravelMate 2490 laptop with Windows 7, but by the included cmospwd.txt works other BIOS versions and PCs or laptops.

Download and extract to a folder this software:
http://www.cgsecurity.org/cmospwd-5.0.zip
( Info: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/CmosPwd )

Log on to Windows as Administrator priviledges, or run an command prompt with administrating priviledges (Click Start-->Run: type CMD hit Ctr+Shift+Enter)
cd to the extracted directory (e.g. cmospwd-5.0)
then in cmospwd-5.0 cd to windows directory

To work on cmos memory, ioperm need to be installed and running. ioperm gives direct port I/O access for specified ports to user-mode process.

when you are already in e.g. \cmospwd-5.0\windows directory: type “ioperm.exe –i” hit enter.
to start ioperm service: type “net start ioperm” hit enter.
type: “Cmospwd_win.exe /k” hit enter, we will see:

1 - Kill cmos
2 - Kill cmos (try to keep date and time)
0 - Abort
Choice :

Type 1 and hit Enter to clear cmos or 2 to keep date and time.

Reboot computer and former BIOS password gone.

WARNING: You should disable or uninstall ioperm
with "ioperm.exe -u" if you don't want to decrease
your security!

Acer TravelMate 2490 vs. Windows 8.1 error message: ATTEMPTED SWITCH FROM DPC

After installing Windows 8.1 to Acer Travelmate 2490 two errors remain.
1. Atheros wifi adapter.
2. Card reader.

1. Atheros wifi adapter:
You can download Atheros wifi driver for Windows Vista 32 bit from here.
(There are wifi drivers for Atheros, Broadcom and Intel, but I experienced problem only with Atheros.)
Result of installing  looks OK (with setup.exe), but wifi driver won't be installed.

Solution:
In Device manager on wifi card right click.
Then Update Driver...(Choose the map, you extracted drivers before.)
Install driver.

2. Card reader:
It's unnecessary to install driver, because after installing at starting, Windows 8.1 runs to an error:
"ATTEMPTED SWITCH FROM DPC"

Solution:
In Device manager on card reader right click, and click Disable.
It solves the problem, but you won't use card reader of course (an USB card reader is cheap...or you can enabled this device when you need to read an XD or SD memory card - then disable it again).

Asus P4S800-MX SE driver vs. Windows 7 32-bit

It was interesting.
Very old motherboard (Asus P4S800-MX SE -10 years old), but Windows 7 didn't recognize the LAN and the Audio device.
But with Windows XP drivers (you can download from ASUS website) works.
Modern operating system with old drivers...and it works:)
