Slow Google Chrome and other apps if Windows 8 updates are not applied for a while

If Windows 8 updates are not applied for a while, Google Chrome and other apps will be slow.
Run Windows 8 Update (if it hangs somehow - manually) and the system will work on normal speed.

...and IT works
